Biography of François Cluzet

François Cluzet is a French theater, film, and television actor, and the winner of the César Award in 2007. He was born on September 21, 1955, in Paris, into a family of merchants. At the age of 17, while studying in the first year of Stanislas High School, he decided to become an actor and dropped out of school. Cluzet enrolled in acting courses with Simone, Jean Perimony, and Jean-Laurent Cochet, and started working in theater and television, where he was noticed by director Diane Kurys.

Early Career and Collaboration with Claude Chabrol

At the age of 25, Cluzet played his first role in Kurys' film "Molotov Cocktail," which depicted the turbulent events of the hot spring of 1968. A year later, he appeared in Claude Chabrol's film "Pride's Corner," which marked the beginning of a long collaboration between the actor and the filmmaker. In 1982, François starred in Chabrol's "Ghosts of the Hatmaker," and in 1984, he received two César nominations: for Best Supporting Actor in the film "Deadly Summer" and for Most Promising Actor in the film "Social Assistance Viva!" where he played an adventurer from the 20th district of Paris.
