Early Life and Military Career
Paris began his journey in the city of Ibagué, where he attended San Simón College. Upon graduating, he joined the Colombian Army and enrolled in the José María Córdova Military Academy. He emerged as a Lieutenant of Cavalry in 1928 and was assigned to the Grupo No. 1 Péez division.
Distinguished Service
Paris's exceptional military prowess was evident during the Peru-Colombia War in 1933, where he fought valiantly on the front lines of Baraya-La Tagua. Recognizing his exceptional leadership, the army appointed him as a horse-riding instructor at the José María Córdova Academy.
Rise to the Top
Through the ranks, Paris ascended rapidly. In 1949, he commanded a squadron and subsequently a brigade within the Colombian Armed Forces. By 1953, he had been promoted to Brigadier General and appointed Commander of the Colombian Army. His diplomatic acumen led him to the post of Alternate Representative of Colombia to the UN Security Council Disarmament Commission and Ambassador to the United Nations in the same year.
