Early Life and Military Career
Born in Tashkent on December 18, 1959, Alexander Kurenkov embarked on a distinguished career in the military and emergency services. In 1980, he graduated from the V.I. Lenin Higher Combined Arms Command School. Subsequently, he completed studies at the M.V. Frunze Military Academy in 1990 and the Russian Academy of State Service under the President of the Russian Federation in 2002.
Throughout his military service from 1980 to 1994, Kurenkov held various positions within the Soviet Army and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He served as a commander in different capacities, including a motorized rifle platoon, a cadet platoon, and a cadet battalion. He also served as an instructor and a battalion commander at the Tashkent Higher Combined Arms Command School.
Transition to Emergency Services
In 1994, Kurenkov joined the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MCHS) of Russia. He assumed leadership roles in various capacities, including:
- Deputy Commander of the 144th Separate Rescue Brigade, Central Regional Center of the MCHS of Russia (1994-1998)
- Commander of the 146th Separate Rescue Brigade, Central Regional Center of the MCHS of Russia (1998-2000)
- Head of the 847th Rescue Center, Central Regional Center of the MCHS of Russia (2000-2002)
- Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Lipetsk Region (2002-2007)
- Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Moscow Region (2007-2010)
- Head of the North-Western Regional Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia (2010-2017)
Humanitarian and Rescue Operations
Throughout his career, Kurenkov actively participated in numerous humanitarian and rescue operations. Notable contributions include:
- Delivery of humanitarian aid to the former Yugoslavia, Dagestan, and Ingushetia
- Response to the flood in the village of Khatsukai, Krasnogvardeisky District, Adygea
- Response to the communal network accident in Sobinka and Lakinsk, Vladimir Region
- Dispatch of a humanitarian convoy to South Ossetia
- Management of the cleanup operation following the Druzhba oil pipeline accident in the Stanovlyansky District, Lipetsk Region
- Suppression of forest fires and response to emergencies in the Lipetsk Region
