Early Life and Career

Gabriella Cilmi was born on 10th October 1991, in Melbourne, Australia, to Italian parents. Her musical talents were first showcased at just 13 years old when she performed the Rolling Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash" at a street festival. A representative from Island Records witnessed her performance and was captivated by her talent. Cilmi was subsequently invited to the UK to sign a recording contract.

Debut Album and Rise to Fame

With Brian Higgins, the producer behind Girls Aloud, at the helm, Cilmi began working on her debut album. In 2005, her first two songs became soundtracks for a popular Australian film. Two years later, she recorded a track for the British film "St. Trinian's."

The release of the single "Sweet About Me" from her debut album, "Lessons to Be Learned," marked a turning point in Cilmi's career. Its inclusion in a Rexona commercial boosted her popularity significantly. The song peaked within the top 10 in the UK charts in March 2008 and topped the charts in Cilmi's native Australia for five weeks. "Lessons to Be Learned" was hailed as one of the year's top albums upon its release in England.

Touring and Accolades
