Dr. Gagik Grigoryevich Stamboltsyan
Gagik Grigoryevich Stamboltsyan is an Armenian doctor who has held various leadership positions in the medical field.
Early Life and Education
Born on June 18, 1957, in Yerevan, Armenia, Stamboltsyan graduated from the Yerevan State Medical Institute in 1980. He completed his internship at the Yerevan Emergency Hospital N1 in 1981.
Medical Career
Stamboltsyan's medical career began as a doctor at the Yerevan Emergency Station from 1981 to 1984. He then went on to become a clinical resident at the Yerevan branch of the All-Union Scientific Surgical Center (VNKhTs) from 1984 to 1986.
From 1986 to 1991, Stamboltsyan worked as a microsurgeon at VNKhTs. During this time, he underwent further training at Yale University in the United States from 1990 to 1991.
Upon his return to Armenia, Stamboltsyan served as head of department and director of the plastic surgery center at the Mikaelyan Institute of Surgery from 1991 to 1994. He was then head of department at the Erebouni Medical Center from 1994 to 1997.
Political Career
Stamboltsyan entered politics in 1997 when he was appointed Minister of Health of Armenia. He held this position until 1998, after which he became director of the Yerevan Center for Reconstructive Surgery from 1998 to 2000.
Later Medical Career
In 2000, Stamboltsyan became the executive director of the St. Nerses the Great Medical Center in Yerevan, a position he held until 2003. He then served as the executive director of the Kanaker-Zeitun medical complex from December 2003.
Parliamentary Career
Stamboltsyan was elected to the parliament on May 25, 2003. He served as deputy chairman of the standing committee on social issues, health, and nature protection. He was also a member of the Armenian Republican Party.
