Galina Timoshenko: A Renowned Psychologist and Television Personality
Early Life and EducationGalina Timoshenko was born in Chisinau, Moldova in 1962. She excelled academically, particularly in mathematics, and graduated high school with honors. Inspired by Vladimir Savchenko's work on self-physiology control, she pursued psychology at Moscow State University имени Михаила Ломоносова. She completed an internship in clinical psychology at the Russian State Medical University and later earned a doctorate in medical sciences.
Career
After graduating, Timoshenko worked as a psychologist at a machine-building factory in Klimovsk for two years. She then accompanied her husband to Libya, where she conducted psychological testing of Russian expatriates and engaged with local residents through color tests. Upon returning to Russia, she joined the "Prognoz" center in Obninsk, providing support to victims of the Chernobyl disaster. She also lectured at Kaluga Pedagogical University. Subsequently, she worked at Moscow City Hospital No. 223 and established her own center for psychological assistance, "Algorithms of Happiness."
Television Career
Timoshenko's television debut came unexpectedly through a casting call for the show "Understand. Forgive." Her blunt and insightful commentary resonated with viewers, cementing her role as an expert psychologist on the show. Despite her sometimes abrasive communication style, she believes it helps individuals tap into their inner resources and promote self-sufficiency.
Personal Life
Timoshenko is private about her personal life. She married a graduate of the Institute of Asian and African Studies who spoke Arabic. Following their wedding, they traveled to Africa together. They welcomed a daughter, Anastasia, in 1990. After 17 years of marriage, her husband passed away in 2007. She chose to focus on her career and her daughter, with whom she enjoys traveling.
