Early Life and Education

Gasymov, Gasym Nurmakhammad oglu, was born on March 22, 1959, in the city of Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. In 1976, he enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute named after Ch. Yildirim. He graduated with honors in 1981, specializing in Mechanical Engineering.

Professional Career

From December 1981 to April 1982, Gasymov served as a Senior Laboratory Assistant in the Department of Internal Combustion Engines at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. From January 1998 to January 2000, he held the position of General Director of the newspaper "Gyunay."

Political Involvement

Gasymov's political career began in September 1980 when he was elected Secretary of the Komsomol Committee of the Mechanical Engineering Faculty. He rose through the ranks, serving as Secretary of the Komsomol Committee of the Institute from March 1982 to November 1982 and First Secretary of the Komsomol Committee of the Shamakhi District from October 1982 to October 1990.

Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, Gasymov held various government positions in the Shamakhi District. He was Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Council of People's Deputies from October 1990 to October 1991 and Deputy Head of the Executive Authority from December 1991 to August 1995.

Association and National Roles

From August 2007 to August 2008, Gasymov worked as Director of the Department for Work with Municipalities of the National Association of Municipal Formations of Azerbaijan. He then served as Director of the Department of the National Association of Settlement Municipalities and Deputy Executive Secretary from August 2008 to May 2010. From May to July 2011, he was responsible for the National Association of Rural Municipalities of Azerbaijan.

First Deputy Head of Shamakhi District

Gasymov returned to government service in July 2011 as First Deputy Head of the Executive Authority of the Shamakhi District. He held this position until May 2020.

Party Activities

Gasymov joined the Democratic Party of Entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan (DPEA) in September 1995 and served as Head of the Shamakhi District Assembly from September to December 1995. He then worked as the Head of a Department in the party's central office from December 1995 to January 1998. From January 2000 to March 2021, he served as Chairman of the DPEA.

Merger with the New Azerbaijan Party

In March 2021, the DPEA voted to merge with the New Azerbaijan Party, a decision officially formalized at the party's Seventh Extraordinary Congress on March 5, 2021.

Awards and Recognition

Gasymov has been recognized for his contributions to public service, receiving the Medal "For Distinction in Public Service," the Letter of Gratitude from the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (No. 1/575, November 27, 2003), and the Order (No. 371, July 31, 2018).
