Sporting Lisbon
Gelson Martins is a Portuguese winger who began his career at Sporting Lisbon. He made his professional debut in 2015 and went on to win the Portuguese Cup and Super Cup that year. In 2017, he scored a goal in the Champions League against Olympiacos. However, in 2018, he became involved in a violent incident with fans, leading to his departure from the club.
Atlético Madrid
In 2018, Martins joined Atlético Madrid on a six-year deal. He made his La Liga debut against Valencia and scored his first goal two months later in the Copa del Rey against Sant Andreu.
Monaco
In 2019, Martins was loaned out to Monaco until the end of the season. He made his debut against Guingamp in the Coupe de la Ligue and scored his first goal for the club in a league match against Montpellier. After impressing in his loan spell, Monaco purchased Martins for €30 million on a five-year contract.
International Career
Martins has represented Portugal at various youth levels and made his senior international debut in 2016 against Andorra. He played in the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
