Biography of Yuriy Virt
Yuriy Virt is a Ukrainian football player and coach. He was born on February 3, 1978, in Lviv, Ukraine. Virt began his career as a goalkeeper and played for several clubs in Ukraine.
Football Career
Virt started his professional career with Skala Striy and Lviv before moving to Metalurh Donetsk. He also played for Borisfen Boryspil and Shakhtar Donetsk. In 2007, Virt signed a new contract with Shakhtar Donetsk but only made two appearances for the first team in five years. He retired from professional football in 2012.
During his career, Virt represented the Ukrainian national team and played two matches. He helped the team secure victories against Belarus on September 1, 2001, and Armenia on September 5, 2001.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Virt transitioned into coaching. In 2012, he became a goalkeeper coach for the youth team of Metalurh Donetsk and later worked as a coach for the youth team. He then moved on to become the coach of the senior team at Stal Dniprodzerzhynsk in 2015.
In April 2017, Virt was appointed as the head coach of Veres Rivne. However, he left the position in December 2017. He later took charge of Rukh Vynnyky in September 2018 but left the team in November of the same year.
On September 27, 2022, Virt was recognized as the best coach of the Ukrainian Premier League for the months of August and September 2022.
