Georgy Kyoseivanov: A Life of Diplomacy and Politics
Early Years and EducationBorn in Bulgaria, Georgy Kyoseivanov embarked on a legal career, studying in Paris in 1905. This education laid the foundation for his future diplomatic and political endeavors.
Diplomatic Assignments
Kyoseivanov's diplomatic career began with postings in Rome (1912), Istanbul (1913-1915), Bern (1918-1920), Berlin (1920), and Paris (1923-1924). His service continued in Bucharest (1925) as chargé d'affaires before his appointment as ambassador to various countries: Greece (1926-1931), Romania (1931-1933), and Yugoslavia (1933-1934).
Political Rise
Kyoseivanov's diplomatic experience culminated in his return to Bulgaria in 1934. He briefly served as chief of the King's Office before becoming Minister of Foreign Affairs. In 1935, he rose to the position of Prime Minister, leading the 53rd, 54th, 55th, and 56th governments.
Diplomatic Service During World War II
With the outbreak of World War II, Kyoseivanov was appointed ambassador to Switzerland in 1940. He remained in this position until the end of the war in 1944 and the subsequent Bulgarian political turmoil.
