Biography of Gidget Gein
Gidget Gein, born Bradley Stewart on September 11, 1969, in Hollywood, Florida, was an American musician, actor, and art master. Growing up in a family with a Catholic school teacher and a police officer, Gein's character was shaped by 70s children's shows, car movies, and radio, as his parents were going through a divorce. During this time, he learned to play the guitar from a Catholic priest. In the mid-80s, Gein gained attention as a model for popular clothing brands and played in local bands, while also being a provocative figure at rock concerts.
Gein's personality, style, and reputation became the basis for the character portrayed by Brian Warner in Marilyn Manson. As they became closer friends, the personalities of Bradley and Brian were expressed through humorous ideals - Gidget Gein and Marilyn Manson. Their individual styles, influences, and behaviors were showcased in the band Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids on the South Florida music scene and ultimately caught the attention of the then-famous Trent Reznor.
Marilyn Manson and Dali Gaggers
In 1992, the band shortened its name to Marilyn Manson and gained local popularity. Gein's persona became more chaotic due to extensive drug use, displays of bisexuality, and other acts of debauchery. On Christmas Eve 1993, after waking up in a hospital bed following a heroin overdose, he received a letter from Marilyn Manson stating, "No longer needed." He was replaced by Jeordie White (aka Twiggy Ramirez). Gein moved to New York, where he assisted many artists and actors. As his own ideas accumulated, he formed the band Dali Gaggers.
Exploring fliers, lyrics, and propaganda in Dali Gaggers, it is evident that Gein had a significant influence on the earlier posters, fliers, and lyrics of Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids. Shortly before the release of Dali Gaggers' debut album, "Confessions of a Spooky Kid," Gein returned to Florida to seek treatment for drug addiction. Over the years of his recovery, he continued to accumulate ideas and images.
Later Years and Legacy
In 2004, with the support of friends and fans, Gein opened his exhibitions and fashion shows in Hollywood. He created clothing and sculptures, wrote books, and made music. After a long period of abstinence from drugs, on October 9, 2008, Bradley Stewart died of a heroin overdose in his home in Burbank, California. His body was discovered several days later.
