Early Life and EducationNikolaz Gilauri, a renowned Georgian statesman and economist, was born on February 14, 1975, in Tbilisi. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Tbilisi State University, majoring in international relations. In the late 1990s, he traveled to England for further education at Bournemouth College. He continued his studies in Ireland, earning a master's degree in finance and economics from the University of Limerick. Additionally, from 1999 to 2000, Gilauri studied international management at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Professional Career
During his years abroad, Gilauri held various positions in financial institutions. In 1999, he worked as an office manager for Invesco in Dublin. In 2000, he served as a financial consultant for the Small Business Development Center in Philadelphia.
Upon returning to Georgia in 2001, Gilauri became a financial consultant for Telecom Georgia. Subsequently, he joined Iberdrola, a Spanish energy company, as a management consultant for the Georgian energy market.
Government Service
Gilauri's impressive resume and expertise led him to government service. In 2004, he was appointed Energy Minister, a position he held until 2007. From 2007 to 2009, he served as Finance Minister.
