Gina Fortini, born Georgina Butler, was born in 1931 in Kobe, Japan. Her parents had English origins. Her father, Han Somerset Butler, was the twin brother of the Earl of Kerrik. In 1947, Gina enrolled in the Royal College of Art in London. During this time, she began practicing her design craft by assisting the dance troupe of Catherine Dunham. Gina worked as an assistant to costume designer and decorator John Platt.
Personal Life
In 1954, Georgina Butler married the rebellious guitarist Devil Goldberg, but their marriage did not last long. After a few years, they divorced, as their future together seemed unpromising. In 1965, Gina had her second wedding. Her second husband was a quite influential figure in London, Renato Fortini. In 1966, the couple acquired their own mansion. Gina Fortini was also married to popular actor Jimmy Logan, better known as James Allen Shot. Her personal life was quite tumultuous and unpredictable, and she was known for her flighty and amorous nature. In her youth, she easily fell in love with handsome men.
