Italian Politician and Statesman

Education

Born into a naval officer's family, the Italian politician and statesman received his secondary education at the Giuseppe Gioachino Belli high school in Rome, the Saint Joseph Calasanctius Gymnasium in Rome (1961-1962), and the F. Morosini Naval College (1963-1966). He earned a law degree from the University of Catania in 1970.

Teaching and Journalism

From 1971 to 1973, he taught at the University of Catania. In 1973-1975, he worked as a research associate at the National Research Council of the University of Rome "La Sapienza." He began his legal practice in 1974 and joined the Lazio Journalists' Association in 1975. As a journalist, he contributed to leading Italian publications, including Corriere della Sera, Il Giornale, Il Messaggero, Il Secolo d'Italia, and Il Tempo.

Academia

From 1975 to 1983, he taught courses in "Maritime and Navigation Law" at the Academy of the Guardia di Finanza in Rome. From 1983 to 1989, he was an associate professor of international and national financial law at the University of Guido Carli. He later became an adjunct professor of international trade law (1990-1996) and parliamentary law (1997-1998) at the same faculty.

Political Career

Senate

From 2001 to 2006, he served as a senator of the XIV Italian Republic legislature, representing the National Alliance party. He held various positions on parliamentary committees, including the Committee on Elections and Parliamentary Immunity, the Commission on Justice, and the Parliamentary Committee on the Examination of Impeachment Proceedings.

Chamber of Deputies

From 2006 to 2008, he was elected as a deputy to the XV Italian Republic legislature for the National Alliance party. He continued to hold positions on parliamentary committees, including the Committee on Elections, the Commission on Justice, and the Parliamentary Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

Leadership Roles

In the XV legislature, he was Deputy Chairman of the Authorization Committee and a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Judicial Affairs. From 2010, he chaired the Council for Jurisdiction.
