Biographical Sketch of Guillermo Varela
Guillermo Varela is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Uruguayan club Peñarol and the Uruguay national team.
Club Career
Varela began his playing career with Peñarol, making his first-team debut in 2011. In 2013, he joined Manchester United, signing a five-year contract with the English Premier League club. After making a few appearances for Manchester United, Varela was loaned out to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016. He returned to Peñarol in 2017.
International Career
Varela has represented Uruguay at various youth levels. He was part of the U-20 team that finished third at the 2013 South American Youth Championship and won the runners-up at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Varela made his senior debut for Uruguay in 2017 in a friendly match against Poland.
