Born in Hungary, the distinguished art historian and landscape painter initially pursued a legal career in Vienna and Pest. However, his passion for art led him to abandon law in favor of painting at the Munich Academy.

In 1868-1869, he embarked on a scientific expedition commissioned by the Hungarian government. The extensive study of art and industrial schools across various nations resulted in a comprehensive work in Hungarian.

Educational Legacy

Under the guidance of Keleti, he established the Royal Hungarian School of Drawing and Seminary for Training Drawing Teachers in 1871. His vision extended further, leading to the founding of the renowned Royal Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts and Industrial Arts in 1880. He served as its esteemed director.
