Early Life and Broadway Beginnings

Harry Goz was born in Queens, New York, and began his acting career on Broadway in the 1964 production of "Bajour," alongside Chita Rivera and Nancy Dussault.

Star-Making Role in "Fiddler on the Roof"

Goz's breakthrough came with his portrayal of Tevye the Milkman in the Broadway musical "Fiddler on the Roof" from 1966 to 1968. He served as both an understudy and lead performer, earning widespread recognition for his performance.

Acclaimed Roles in Subsequent Musicals

Goz continued to shine in numerous Broadway musicals, including "Two by Two," "Prisoner of Second Avenue," and "Chess." His performance as Soviet agent Ivan Molokov in "Chess" garnered critical acclaim and a Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actor in a Musical.

Television and Film Appearances

Throughout his career, Goz also appeared in several television and film productions. He starred in the 1981 television movie "Bill" and its 1983 sequel, as well as episodic roles in "The Edge of Night" and "Wizards and Warriors."

In the later years of his career, Harry Goz gained a new audience with his voice role as the eccentric Captain Hazel "Hank" Murphy in the animated series "SeaQuest 2032." He remained in this role until his untimely passing in 2003.

Harry Goz was survived by his three children and ten grandchildren. His son, actor Michael Goz, continued to voice characters in "SeaQuest 2032" after his father's death.
