Early Career

Heinz Schilcher began his footballing journey with VSV before joining GAK in 1965. However, he failed to make a single appearance for GAK. In 1969, Schilcher moved to Sturm Graz but again struggled for regular playing time.

Breakthrough at Ajax

Schilcher's career took a significant turn when he joined Ajax Amsterdam in 1971. It was at Ajax that he achieved his greatest successes, winning two European Cups (1972, 1973), two Dutch Eredivisie titles (1972, 1973), and two KNVB Cups (1971, 1972).

International Debut and French Adventure

Schilcher made his debut for the Austrian national team in March 1973 in a match against the Netherlands. He later played for Paris and Olympique Nîmes in France before joining Strasbourg in 1976. With Strasbourg, he won the French Ligue 2 championship and promotion to Ligue 1.

Return to Sturm Graz

After seven years abroad, Schilcher returned to Austria and rejoined Sturm Graz. He became a regular starter, making 129 appearances and scoring three goals between 1978 and 1982.
