Biography of Henry Simmons
Henry Simmons, an American actor, was born on July 1, 1970, in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. He was raised in a small working-class family, where his father, Henri Simmons, was an officer in the Internal Revenue Service, and his mother, Aurelia Simmons, taught at a college. He also has a twin sister named Heather Simmons. Simmons attended the school where his mother worked and later enrolled in Franklin Pierce College, majoring in business.

Early Career
After graduating from college, Henry Simmons joined a prestigious company in Connecticut called 'Fortune 500'. However, his appearance and tall stature caught the attention of casting agents in Manhattan, and he was offered a role in the 1994 film 'Above the Ring'. In the film, Simmons played a basketball player who goes up against a team of gangsters. Despite being a low-budget film, it unexpectedly helped Simmons become a screen star and propelled his acting career forward.

Rise to Fame
Following his breakthrough role, Henry Simmons went on to make regular appearances in TV series such as 'The Cosby Mysteries', 'New York Undercover', and 'Swift Justice'. He also had a guest appearance in the multi-episode TV series 'Another World' in 1997. These projects led to him being cast as Detective Baldwin Jones in the popular series 'NYPD Blue' in 2002. Initially, executive producer Steven Bochco planned for Simmons to appear in only a few episodes, but the actor's talent impressed the producers so much that Simmons overshadowed his character Nick Tutturro (based on Detective James Martinez from the movie). As a result, Simmons remained on the show until its final episode in 2005.
Film Career
Simultaneously, Henry Simmons continued to work in feature films. He appeared in the romantic comedy 'Let It Snow' in 1999 and the coming-of-age drama 'The Gentleman's Game' in 2002, where he played a golf instructor. After showcasing his abilities as a detective on 'NYPD Blue', Simmons became in-demand and received numerous offers for roles in diverse films. In 2004, he starred in the comedy 'Taxi' and played the role of gladiator Draba in the film 'Spartacus'. While the latter film was successful, Simmons was not able to surpass his predecessor. Currently, Simmons has appeared in over twenty films, with his most notable works being the TV series 'NYPD Blue' and the comedy 'Are We There Yet?'
