Biography of Ian Ziering
Ian Ziering, an American actor best known for his role as Steve Sanders in the television series 'Beverly Hills, 90210', was born on March 30, 1964. He was born to Mickey and Paula Ziering, both of Jewish descent, in Newark, New Jersey. Ziering spent his childhood in West Orange, a city in the northeastern part of New Jersey, with his two older brothers, Jeff and Barry. His father often jokes, "Ian is the best mistake of my life."
Education and Early Career
Ziering graduated from high school in West Orange in 1982. Just eight years later, in 1990, he was chosen to play the role of Steve Sanders in the hit series 'Beverly Hills, 90210'.
Other Acting Roles and Achievements
In addition to his role in 'Beverly Hills, 90210', Ziering has appeared in several other television series, including 'JAG', 'What I Like About You', 'The Doctors', and 'Guiding Light'. He also worked on the video game 'Freelancer', providing the voice for the main character, Edison Trent.
Ziering participated in the fourth season of the show 'Dancing with the Stars' on ABC, paired with professional dancer Cheryl Burke, who won the second season of the show. Although they reached the semifinals, Ziering and Burke were eliminated on May 15, 2007.
In 2006, Ziering produced, directed, and acted in the short film 'Man vs. Monday', which won the Audience Choice Award at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. He also won the Best Actor award at the Monaco International Film Festival for his role in the film 'Stripped Down'.
Personal Life
On June 18, 2007, it was reported that Ziering had auditioned for the role of host for the show 'The Price is Right', but Drew Carey ultimately got the job. Interestingly, Ziering's ex-wife, Nikki, worked as a model on the show from 1999 to 2002.
Ziering married Nikki in 1997, but they divorced in 2002, citing irreconcilable differences.
