IANIS ZICU

Early Life and Career

Ianis Zicu, a Romanian footballer, was born on October 11, 1983. As a striker, he began his professional career at Romanian club Târgu Mureș.

Loan Spells and Transfer to Parma

In January 2004, at the age of 20, Zicu was acquired by Italian powerhouse Inter Milan for a fee of €2.5 million. However, Inter sent him on loan to Parma as part of a deal that brought Adriano to Milan. Zicu later went on loan to Romanian clubs Rapid Bucharest and Dinamo Bucharest.

Permanent Move to Dinamo

Despite being on Inter's books, Zicu never played a single match for the Italian giants. In 2007, Dinamo Bucharest secured his rights from Inter Milan.

Success at Rapid Bucharest

Zicu's most successful season came in 2006/07 while playing for Rapid Bucharest, where he scored 12 goals in 30 Romanian league matches.

Failed Move to Kuban Krasnodar

On December 29, 2009, it was announced that Zicu would join Russian club Kuban Krasnodar. However, Zicu denied the reports a week later, claiming he was unaware of any move to Kuban.

Subsequent Transfers

In 2010, Zicu moved to Timișoara, where he played for two years. He then signed for Sofia's CSKA in 2014.

International Career

Zicu made his international debut for Romania in 2003 and played for the national team sporadically until 2011. He scored his only international goal in a match against Luxembourg on March 29, 2011.
