Early Life and Escape from the NazisIngeborg "Inge" Ginsberg (née Neufeld) was born on January 27, 1922, in Vienna, Austria, into a wealthy Jewish family. Her childhood was filled with privilege, but her life took a dramatic turn with the rise of the Nazi regime.
In 1942, Inge's family was forced to flee their home. Her father escaped to England, while Inge and her mother were smuggled into Switzerland by a friend in exchange for the family's valuables. Inge spent time in a refugee camp before becoming a caretaker for a spy villa used by the US Secret Service to monitor Nazi activities.
Life in Hollywood and Beyond
After the war, Inge and her first husband, Otto Kollman, moved to Los Angeles. She worked in Hollywood, assisting her husband in writing songs for famous artists like Nat King Cole and Dean Martin. However, by the late 1950s, Inge grew disillusioned with the superficiality of Hollywood. She left Los Angeles and divorced her husband, with whom she had one daughter.
Inge met her second husband, Hans Kruger, in Israel and married him in 1960. They lived a life of luxury in an Israeli hotel. She later met her third husband, Kurt Ginsberg, a Jewish immigrant from Vienna. They moved to Ecuador and married in 1972 after Inge's difficult divorce from Kruger. Kurt died in 1999.
Rise to Musical Stardom
In 2013, at the age of 91, Inge applied for the Eurovision Song Contest with a song about youth suicide. While her song did not qualify, it caught the attention of the band The TritoneKings. Together, they performed "Sing und iss und trink und lach, dann fährt der Teufel zur Hölle ab" for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden, finishing in 18th place.
Inge's unique voice and message of freedom and authenticity resonated with audiences worldwide. She became the lead singer of the death metal band Inge & the TritoneKings, writing songs on themes such as love, hate, and environmental protection.
