Early Life and EducationIngeman Arbnor, a prominent Swedish economist and professor, was born in Sweden in 1949. He pursued economics at Lund University, where he eventually secured his first professorship. During his doctoral research, Arbnor was mentored by Björn Bjerke, a professor in entrepreneurship and small business, fostering a strong professional bond between the two.
Collaboration and Bestseller
In collaboration with Bjerke, Arbnor authored the seminal work, "Methodology for Creating Business Knowledge," in 1997. This international bestseller expanded the frontiers of business knowledge by outlining, describing, and comparing three distinct methodological approaches for acquiring such knowledge.
Entrepreneurial Endeavors
Arbnor ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing successful business training programs and development centers in partnership with Swedish multinational corporations. He is credited with founding the trading house "Venture Competence Invest" and the Academy for Venture Management.
Research Interests and Contributions
Since the 1990s, Arbnor served as a member of the expert group at the Swedish Association of Graduate Business Administration and Economics (SAGBAE). His research interests encompass organizational studies, management, research methodology, and multimedia.

Structuration Theory Approach:Rooted in Anthony Giddens' "Central Problems in Social Theory" and "The Constitution of Society," it explores the interplay between agency and structure.
Research Methods
Arbnor's scientific methods center around historical and case studies, dialogue, language development, data collection, measurement, reliability controls, and validation. He underscores the alignment of qualitative research methods with the researcher's epistemological assumptions, theory, and research objectives.
Publications and Legacy
Arbnor authored over 14 books, notably "Phenomenology as a Guide to Research" (1977), primarily in Swedish. He is survived by his three children, leaving a lasting legacy as a pioneer in business knowledge and research.
