Professional Education and Achievements
Dr. Elena Zakharova holds a doctorate in psychology and a professorship. She is a full member (academician) of the Russian Academy of Education (RAE). She serves as the Chief Research Fellow of the Regional Scientific Center of the RAE in the Southern Federal District (YURNTSRAO).
Academic and Administrative Roles
At Don State Technical University, Dr. Zakharova is the Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Education, and Special Education, Head of the Department of General and Consulting Psychology, and Professor of the Department of Pedagogical Measurements. She is also the Chief External Teacher-Psychologist of the Southern Federal District.
Professional Affiliations and Memberships
Dr. Zakharova is a member of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission on Psychology and Education. She chairs the Doctoral Dissertation Council at Southern Federal University and is a member of dissertation councils at Southern Federal University and Kuban State University. She serves on the Presidium of the Educational and Methodological Association on Psychological Sciences and chairs the regional Educational and Methodological Association on Psychology.
As an expert, Dr. Zakharova collaborates with the KIAS Association for Educational Projects Expertise, the "Encouragement of the Best Teachers" competition commission of the Ministry of General and Vocational Education of the Rostov Region, and the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science.
Editorial Contributions
Dr. Zakharova is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Innovative Science: Psychology, Education, Special Education." She is also the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the "Russian Psychological Journal" and the "North Caucasus Psychological Bulletin." She serves on the international editorial board of the "Southern Federal University Bulletin" and the editorial board of the "Humanitarian, Socio-Economic, and Social Sciences" journal.
Research and Publications
Dr. Zakharova's research focuses on meaning-making in the educational process. She defended her doctoral dissertation on this topic in 2003.
Professional Recognition
In 2008, Dr. Zakharova was elected as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education. In 2021, she was elevated to the rank of academician.
