Early Life and Education
Ismat Abbasov was born on May 25, 1954, in Yerevan, Armenia. In 1971, he graduated from Secondary School No. 9 named after M. F. Akhundov in Yerevan. He later graduated from the Azerbaijan Institute of National Economy in 1976, earning a degree in commodity science.
Career in the Wine Industry
From 1976 to 1980, Abbasov worked as chief engineer and head of department at the Central Administration of Supply, Procurement, and Sales of the State Committee for Viticulture and Winemaking. Between 1980 and 1989, he held the positions of head of the planning and production department and Deputy Director for Commercial Affairs at the Baku Champagne Winery.
Economic Management Roles
In 1989 and 1990, Abbasov served as Deputy Director for Economic Affairs at the Baku Biscuit Factory. From 1990 to 1993, he held the same position at the Baku Wine Plant No. 1. From 1993 to 1997, he worked as Deputy Director for Production and Administrative Director at the Baku Tobacco Factory.
Ministerial Appointment
In 1997, Abbasov was appointed First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan by presidential decree. On October 23, 2004, he became the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Academic and Political Affiliations
In 1986, عباسوف earned a Ph.D. in economics. In 1990, he was elected as a deputy in the Baku City Council. Since 1993, he has been a member of the Yeni Azerbaijan Party.
