Biography of Ivan Klasnić
Ivan Klasnić is a Croatian footballer who plays as a forward for the English club "Bolton Wanderers". He has been a part of the Croatian national football team since 2004.

Early Life and Career Beginnings
Klasnić was born in Hamburg, Germany, to Croatian-Bosnian migrant workers. He started his football career in local clubs such as "Union 03" and "Stellingen". His first major club was "St. Pauli", where he gained recognition in the Second Bundesliga. He made his debut for St. Pauli at the age of 18 in 1998 and played for the team for four years. The highlight of his time at St. Pauli was their promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2000-2001 season.

Move to Werder Bremen and Success
After an impressive season at St. Pauli, Klasnić attracted interest from several Bundesliga clubs. The most concrete offer came from Werder Bremen, and in the summer of 2001, Klasnić joined the club as a free agent. He initially spent his first two seasons at Werder Bremen as a substitute, filling in for players like Ailton, Nelson Valdez, and Angelos Charisteas. During this period, he also suffered two serious knee injuries. However, in the 2003-2004 season, Klasnić started playing at his best and became one of the team's top players, alongside Ailton. He scored 13 goals and provided 11 assists, helping Werder Bremen win the Bundesliga and the German Cup.

Partnership with Miroslav Klose and International Career
From the 2004-2005 season onwards, Klasnić formed a formidable attacking duo with Miroslav Klose at Werder Bremen. Together, they were the most prolific strike partnership in the Bundesliga. Klasnić scored 10 goals in that season and an additional 5 goals in the UEFA Champions League, including a hat-trick against Belgian side Anderlecht. Werder Bremen reached the Round of 16 in the Champions League but was eliminated by Lyon. In the 2005-2006 season, Klasnić and Klose led Werder Bremen to a runner-up finish in the German league.
In 2006-2007, Klasnić faced health problems and underwent a kidney transplant. After a successful recovery, he returned to the field in November 2007. In 2008, Klasnić signed a four-year contract with French club "Nantes" but was later loaned to English club "Bolton Wanderers" in 2009. Throughout his career, Klasnić also represented the Croatian national team, making his debut on February 18, 2004, against Germany. He scored his first international goal in a friendly match against Macedonia on April 28, 2004. Klasnić participated in the UEFA Euro 2004 and Euro 2008 tournaments, scoring two goals in the latter. He became the first player with a transplanted kidney to feature in the final stages of the European Championship.
Achievements
Klasnić won the German championship with Werder Bremen in 2004 and also lifted the German Cup in the same year. He was also part of the team that won the German League Cup in 2006.
