Early Life and Education
Jack Lowden is a British actor born in Chelmsford, Essex. His family relocated to Uxton, Scotland, where he spent his childhood. Lowden's younger brother, Calum, is a Principal Dancer with the Scottish Ballet.
Despite their non-theatrical background, Lowden's passion for acting emerged at a young age. At 10, he joined a theater workshop at a Scottish youth center, honing his skills in pantomime. After attending Earlsdon Preparatory School, he spent summers in London attending a short course at RADA. He also sang with the Opera Youth Society.
Lowden's training culminated at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly RSAMD), where he graduated in 2011. He specialized in both vocal and theatrical performance.
Acting Career
Lowden's first screen appearance was in an advertisement for Irn-Bru. He made his acting debut in the TV series "Being Victor." Subsequent roles included "Mrs. Biggs," "You Want Me to Kill Him?," "71," and "The Tunnel."
Breakthrough Roles
Despite his success on screen, Lowden remained committed to theater. His acclaimed performances in "Chariots of Fire" and "Black Watch" earned him several prestigious awards.
His breakout role on film came through the adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's "Ghosts," which he co-starred in with Lesley Manville. He was recognized with several awards for his portrayal in the film.
Lowden's career reached new heights with his performance as Nikolai Rostov in the BBC adaptation of Tolstoy's epic novel "War & Peace." He also starred in military drama "The Last Post" alongside Patrick Gibson.
Upcoming Projects
Lowden is currently working on several new projects, including the war drama "Dunkirk," the historical drama "United Kingdom," and the golf biopic "Tommy's Honour."
Personal Life
Jack Lowden is not married but has been in a long-term relationship with Vicky since high school. They currently live in different cities, with Lowden in London and Vicky in Scotland.
