Biography of Jack Ryan
Jack Ryan is an American politician and a Republican from the state of Illinois. He was forced to withdraw from the 2004 United States Senate race due to an alleged sex scandal involving his ex-wife, actress Jeri Ryan. Ryan was replaced by Republican Alan Keyes, who ultimately lost to his Democratic opponent, the future president of the United States, Barack Obama.

Early Life and Education
Jack Ryan was born on October 6, 1959, and grew up in Wilmette, Illinois, along with his five siblings. He attended New Trier High School and graduated in 1977. Ryan then enrolled at Dartmouth College, where he was a member of the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa society. After graduating with honors, he earned a master's degree from Harvard Business School and a doctorate in law from Harvard Law School.
Career
Following his education, Ryan worked as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs. He initially worked in New York City and later transferred to the Chicago branch. In 2000, when Goldman Sachs went public, Ryan's fortune was estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He left Goldman Sachs and became a part-time teacher at Hales Franciscan High School, a private Catholic school in Chicago. He eventually transitioned to teaching full-time. Currently, Ryan manages the news company '22nd Century Media', which publishes six separate newspapers in the Greater Chicago area.
Political Campaign
During his Senate campaign, Ryan advocated for tax cuts, civil reforms, and parents' rights to choose their children's school programs. He also supported limitations on medical malpractice lawsuit payouts. Ryan hoped to fill the vacant seat of retiring Republican Senator Peter Fitzgerald. In March 2004, he won the primary elections, making him the opponent of Democrat Barack Obama. However, when the details of Ryan's divorce from Jeri Ryan were made public, he withdrew his candidacy and officially dropped out of the race in July 2004.
In the divorce documents, which were sealed by court order for the sake of the couple's child, Alex Ryan, there were allegations of the couple's visits to sex clubs in New York, New Orleans, and Paris.
