Early Life and InfluencesJacques Henri Lartigue was born on June 13, 1894, in Courbevoie, France. Artistic Education
Despite his lack of formal training, Lartigue enrolled in the Académie Julian in Paris in 1915, studying under the artist J. P. Laurens. This experience provided him with a foundation in composition and technique.
Pioneering Color Photography
Along with his black-and-white images, Lartigue experimented with early color photography. His "autochrome" photographs are now considered some of the finest examples of the era.
Parisian Boulevards as Muse
Lartigue found inspiration in the bustling boulevards of Paris. His photographs capture the elegance and charm of the city, often featuring fashionable women and luxurious automobiles.
