Early Life and Education
Richard L. "Jake" Siewert Jr. was born on January 1, 1964, in New York City. He graduated from Yale University in 1986 and later attended Emory University, where he studied comparative literature and philosophy. He also studied law for three years at the University of California, Berkeley, but did not complete a degree.
Government Experience
Bill Clinton AdministrationSiewert held various positions in the Clinton administration, including serving as Deputy White House Press Secretary from September 30, 2000, to January 20, 2001.
Obama Administration
In June 2009, Siewert joined the Obama administration as a Counselor to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
Corporate Career
AlcoaFrom 2001 to 2009, Siewert worked for the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa). His final position there was Vice President of Environment, Health, Safety, and Public Policy.
Goldman Sachs
Siewert was appointed Global Head of Corporate Communications at Goldman Sachs in March 2012. One of his first tasks was to rebrand Lloyd Blankfein, the firm's CEO, whose three-year tenure had been marked by controversies.
Personal Life
Siewert is married to Christine Anderson, who served as Communications Director for former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer. Anderson also worked as a press secretary for Governor Spitzer and in the Clinton White House.
