Biography of James Page
James Page, a former American professional boxer and bank robber, was born on April 1, 1971, in Pittsburg, California. He began his professional boxing career in 1990 and achieved great success in the welterweight division. In 1998, after defeating Andrei Pestriaev, Page became the WBA (World Boxing Association) champion in the welterweight division.

Page successfully defended his title three times before losing it in 2000 when he failed to appear for a mandatory title defense in Las Vegas. Determined to regain the welterweight title, he faced Andrew Lewis in 2001 but was defeated, leading him to retire from the sport.
In December 2001, Page made headlines when he was arrested just 45 minutes after robbing a Bank of America branch in Atlanta. The police noticed his newly purchased 'Cadillac,' which he had bought with his championship winnings, parked a few miles away from the bank. Upon searching Page, they found nearly $6,000 in his pockets.
It was later revealed that Page had attempted to rob another bank earlier that day and had visited a bank in Alpharetta, Georgia, a week prior. He was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for his crimes.
Throughout his incarceration, Page remained dedicated to his boxing training, running five miles daily and working out in the prison gym. After his release in 2012, he decided to make a comeback to the ring, aiming to prove to his family and fans that a clear and sober mind can achieve anything, including winning a championship title.
After obtaining his boxing license from the California State Athletic Commission, Page trained extensively and sparred with professional fighters, eagerly waiting for an opportunity to return to the ring. He finally got his chance in November of the previous year but was unable to secure a victory against Rahman Yusubov.
Unfortunately, it seems that after last year's defeat, Page returned to his criminal activities. On the morning of June 10, 2013, he was arrested in West Oakland, California, as a serial bank robber. He had been wanted since March 2013 for at least eight bank robberies in the eastern part of the San Francisco Bay Area.
During each robbery, Page wore a button-down shirt with long sleeves and a collar that buttoned at the tips, earning him the nickname "The Button Down Bandit." He is currently held in the Martinez Detention Facility, with bail set at $395,000.
