Biography of James Breyer

James Breyer is an American entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and partner at Accel Partners. He is also the President of Accel Management Company and the founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, an investment group.

Education and Early Career

Breyer received his education at Stanford University, where he earned a bachelor's degree, and Harvard University, where he earned a master's degree in business administration. During the break between his two degrees, Breyer worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co in New York.

Career

Over the course of his career, Breyer held several high-level positions and served on numerous boards of directors. He was a member of the Board of Directors at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., where he served as the Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee. He also served on the Board of Directors at Marvel Entertainment until it was acquired by Disney, where he was involved in strategic planning and finance. Additionally, Breyer served on the Board of Directors at Dell Inc.

Breyer's involvement in directorships extended beyond these companies. He has held several presidential and directorial positions, including leading the National Venture Capital Association and the Western Association of Venture Capitalists. In December 2005, Breyer was appointed an honorary professor at Yuelu Academy, Hunan University in China. He is also an active participant in various committees of the World Economic Forum.

Recognition and Cultural Projects

Breyer's success as an investor has brought him accolades and recognition. Forbes magazine ranked him first on their "Midas List" of the world's most outstanding and successful investors in April 2011 and May 2012. Fortune magazine also included him in their list of the "10 Smartest People in the High-Tech Industry" in August 2010.

In September 2011, Breyer successfully joined the Board of Directors at News Corporation, receiving 98% of the votes. In addition to his investment activities, Breyer is involved in cultural and educational projects. He supports the venture program at Stanford University and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
