Biography of Jason Ray
Jason Ray is an American politician and member of the Wisconsin State Democratic Committee. He was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to John and Lori Ray. He attended Marquette University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Politics. Currently, he works as an assistant in the national consulting system.
Early Life and Education
Jason Ray grew up in Rice Lake, Wisconsin and attended local schools. Even in school, Ray was actively involved in various activities, serving as class president, editor of the school yearbook, and participating in the school band. He was also a member of the National Honor Society. Ray continued his education at Marquette University, where he excelled academically and politically.
Political Career
During his time at Marquette University, Ray quickly became involved in the college Democrats group. By 2008, he was elected president of the Collegiate Democrats of Wisconsin. He also held positions in the university's student government, including vice president of the legislative branch and chair of the committee on student activity sponsorship. Ray was involved in the Senate of the student government, served as a student representative in the Faculty Senate, and participated in the Science and Arts Committee as well as the local parliament. Notably, he spearheaded the passage of a bill through the student government that provided benefits to local partners of the faculty.
Throughout his education, Ray received awards for his outstanding contributions to public service and student leadership. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Rice Lake Boys and Girls Club. In 2004, Ray became the vice-chair of the Democratic Party of Barron County and joined the re-election committee for Senator Russ Feingold. At the age of seventeen, Ray was elected to the Democratic National Committee, making headlines in the press. His victory came as a surprise to many, as he defeated prominent local politicians.
Political Activism
In 2007, Jason Ray was appointed as the youth representative to the United Nations Commission by Governor Jim Doyle. Alongside ten other members of the Wisconsin Democratic National Committee, Ray traveled to Taiwan and participated in negotiations with local authorities regarding the current situation in China. On February 21, 2008, Ray announced his support for Senator Barack Obama as the Democratic Party's candidate for President of the United States, highlighting his ambitions for higher political office.
Ray has also made appearances as a commentator on major news networks such as CNN, Fox News, and ABC News Radio. He is often sought after as an expert on youth politics and perspectives. Before the 2006 elections, he served as an analyst for Fox News on youth voting issues. As a superdelegate at the 2008 Democratic National Convention, Ray actively participated in both campaigns and appeared on various television shows, including "Live with Dan Abrams" on MSNBC and "Anderson Cooper 360°" on CNN. He has also been interviewed on radio and featured in news reports. Ray has had the opportunity to meet with Michelle Obama, have breakfast with Chelsea Clinton, and engage in phone conversations with John Kerry, Madeleine Albright, and other prominent politicians.
In the summer of 2009, Jason Ray was included in 'The Advocate' magazine's list of openly gay politicians under the age of forty, further highlighting his diverse background and experiences.
