Biography of Jeanne Cherhal
Jeanne Cherhal is a French singer and songwriter who is well-known for her talent in the genre of chanson. Born in Nantes, her early years were spent in Erbray, near Châteaubriant. After studying philosophy for some time, Jeanne moved to Paris where she began singing and playing the piano. She performed both solo and accompanied by guitarist Éric Löhrer. During this period, her performances were mostly small local concerts.

In 2001, Jeanne Cherhal released her first self-produced CD, which featured six compositions. Her debut album, released under the independent label 'Tôt ou tard', garnered attention and slowly gained her a following. Although she had limited original material, Jeanne collaborated with renowned artists such as Georges Moustaki, Jacques Higelin, Thomas Fersen, and Emir Kusturica.

Jeanne was later invited to perform with the band 'Têtes Raides' and worked with Vincent Delerm and Matthieu Bouchet. Their collaboration culminated in the release of a limited edition disk-booklet called '[en même temps...]' in 1500 copies. In 2004, Jeanne Cherhal released her second album, 'Douze fois par an', which achieved impressive success. The album received recognition from both her peers and music lovers, rapidly increasing her fan base.

In 2005, Jeanne Cherhal performed the French version of the renowned play 'The Vagina Monologues'. In 2006, Albin de la Simone produced her third album, 'L'eau', which showcased a more refined musical style. Interestingly, Jeanne incorporated personal and profound material in the songwriting process. With her new album, she embarked on a tour, captivating audiences in Belgium, Switzerland, Berlin, London, Dublin, Beirut, Canada, Congo, Central African Republic, Gabon, and Angola.

In 2008, Jeanne released the previously unpublished song 'Si tu reviens, j'annule tout' on her MySpace page. The same year marked the beginning of her foray into the film industry, starting with relatively small projects. She appeared in the film 'La consultation' directed by Frédérik Vin as part of the French television channel Canal+'s project 'Ecrire pour un chanteur'. Jeanne also had a role in the short film 'La copie de Coralie' directed by Nicolas Hengel, which received a nomination at the Cannes Film Festival.
Jeanne Cherhal released her fourth album, 'Charade', in 2010, followed by her fifth album, 'Histoire de J.', in 2014. While the fourth album did not replicate the success of her third, the fifth album performed relatively well but fell short of reaching the same level. Throughout her career, Jeanne has received various awards and accolades. In 2004, she was awarded the Grand Prix 'L'Académie Charles Cros', and in 2005, she was named 'Revelation of the Year' at the 'Victoires de la Musique' awards.
