Jelena Garcaid: Rising Star of Women's Boxing
Jelena Garcaid is a Canadian athlete and a rising star in women's boxing. She began her career as an amateur boxer in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada, inspired by the fights of Christy Martin and Deirdre Gogarty in March 1996. Garcaid quickly made a name for herself, becoming the British Columbia champion twice in 1998 and 1999. In 1998, she was also named the Boxer of the Year in British Columbia.

Amateur Success and National Championships
On January 24, 1999, Garcaid won her first national title at the Canadian National Championships in Sudbury, Ontario. She defeated Danielle Bouchard from Quebec with a score of 5-3, earning her place in the Canadian National Women's Boxing team. This victory opened new opportunities for Garcaid to compete against the best female boxers in the world. She continued her success by winning the Canadian National Championships again on December 4, 1999, defeating Michelle Collins from Alberta with a score of 11-1.

Unfortunately, in 2000, during a soccer match, Garcaid tore her anterior cruciate ligament in her knee, leading to a reconstructive surgery. However, she made a remarkable comeback, demonstrating that the injury did not affect her professional skills. On January 27, 2001, she won the national championship once again, this time defeating Wendy Broad from Quebec. In addition to her championship title, Garcaid was also recognized as the "Best Female Boxer of the Championship."

Professional Career and World Titles
Garcaid made her professional debut on December 4, 2004, at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington. Despite facing her first defeat against Heather Percival from California, Garcaid showed her determination to achieve excellent results at the professional level.

On November 18, 2005, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Garcaid claimed the world title in the super bantamweight division by defeating Lisa Brown. In the third round, Garcaid almost knocked out Brown, who managed to rise at the count of eight. However, Garcaid continued to dominate the remaining rounds, securing a confident victory.
On February 16, 2006, Garcaid achieved another technical knockout victory, this time against Kim Colbert in the third round. Finally, on July 3, 2010, she defeated Ina Menzer, the world champion by WIBF, WBC, and WBO, in Stuttgart, Germany, further solidifying her position as a top boxer in the world.
