Early Life and EducationJim Justice is an American politician and businessman. He currently serves as the Governor of West Virginia, a position he has held since January 16, 2017. Prior to his political career, Justice was a successful entrepreneur. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and an MBA from Marshall University.
Business Career
Justice's foray into business began with his involvement in his family's coal mining company. In 2009, he sold his company, Bluestone Resources Inc., to Russian firm Mechel for $568 million. However, in 2015, he repurchased his former mines for a mere $5 million.
Entrance into Politics
In 2015, Justice switched his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat and declared his candidacy for the West Virginia governorship. He won the election in 2016, despite the state's Republican electorate supporting Donald Trump for president.
Governorship
As governor, Justice has focused on economic development and job creation. He has also worked on healthcare, education, and infrastructure. In 2017, he switched back to the Republican Party.

Justice is married to Cathy Comer, a former classmate. They have a close relationship and enjoy spending time with their family.
