In 1904, January represented the first United States national football team at the Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri. The team, comprised of athletes from Christian Brothers College, faced Canada in the championship match. Despite a valiant effort, the United States team fell short to the Canadians.

Silver Medal Achievement

In the consolation match, the United States team faced another American squad and emerged victorious. This victory secured them a second-place finish and the coveted silver medals. January and his brothers played an integral role in the team's success, showcasing their athleticism and determination.
