Johnny Dusbaba: A Dutch Soccer Star

Early Career and Rise to Prominence

Johnny Dusbaba began his professional soccer career with ADO Den Haag in 1973. As an 18-year-old defender, he played 33 matches in the 1973/74 Dutch Eredivisie. His impressive performances caught the attention of Ajax, who signed him in 1974.

At Ajax, Dusbaba quickly became a regular starter, featuring in 31 matches during the 1974/75 season. Despite Ajax's third-place finish, Dusbaba's defensive abilities continued to shine. He remained a key player in subsequent seasons, including the 1976/77 Eredivisie campaign where Ajax won the championship.

Success in Belgium

In 1977, Dusbaba moved to Belgium to play for Anderlecht. He spent four seasons with the club, making a significant impact. Anderlecht finished second in the Belgian First Division during his first two seasons and won the title in 1980/81. Dusbaba was a key contributor, playing in over 100 matches and scoring one goal for the club.

Later Career and International Debut

After leaving Anderlecht, Dusbaba had brief stints with Standard Liège and NAC Breda. In 1982, he returned to NAC Breda, but injuries limited his playing time. He then moved to Sint-Niklaas in Belgium, where he played in both the First and Second Divisions before retiring in 1985.

Dusbaba made his international debut for the Netherlands in 1977. He played in four matches for the "Oranje," including two appearances in the 1978 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
