Early Career
Juliano Belletti began his professional career at Cruzeiro in 1993. Over two seasons, he played 22 league matches and earned a move to São Paulo, where he secured a regular starting spot. He spent 1999 on loan at Atlético Mineiro, finishing as the Brazilian Série A runner-up and scoring the fastest goal in the league's final history.
International Glory
Belletti made his Brazil debut in 2001 and was part of the victorious World Cup squad in 2002. Although he served as Cafu's understudy throughout the tournament, he featured for five minutes in the semi-final win over Turkey.
European Adventure
In 2002, Belletti moved to Europe by signing for Villarreal, a move that cost the Spanish club €4 million. He adapted quickly and became a key player, making 31 appearances in La Liga and six in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In the 2003/04 season, he helped Villarreal win the UEFA Intertoto Cup and reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup. His impressive displays attracted the attention of Barcelona, who secured his signature on a four-year deal.
Barcelona Heroics
On May 17, 2006, Barcelona faced Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League final. Belletti started on the bench, but he became the hero after coming on as a substitute and scoring the winning goal, his first for the club.
Premier League Chapter
In August 2007, Belletti joined Chelsea from Barcelona for a reported fee of €5-5.5 million. He debuted for the England side in 2001 and has since become a valuable member of the team.
