Justin W. Chambers, born on July 11, 1970, is an American actor and former model for Calvin Klein. Despite his confident portrayal of the young and self-assured Dr. Alex Karev on the television series "Grey's Anatomy," it took Chambers ten long years to break into the industry. His career was far from easy, as he gradually made his way up the ladder, starting with small television roles.

Early Life and Modeling Career

Chambers, a tall and handsome brunette, was born in Springfield, Ohio. He was one of five children and would later have five children of his own. His striking looks were quickly noticed by modeling agents, and he received an invitation to work for Paris Metro. Soon, he was participating in fashion shows in Europe, Japan, and the United States, and had contracts with Calvin Klein and Armani, among other notable brands.

Early Acting Career

In the mid-1990s, Chambers began pursuing a career in acting. In 1995, he had his first major breakthrough with a role in the NBC soap opera "Another World." However, the show underwent a change in leadership shortly after his casting, and the new producers had different plans for his character.
