Chambers, a tall and handsome brunette, was born in Springfield, Ohio. He was one of five children and would later have five children of his own. Early Acting Career

In the mid-1990s, Chambers began pursuing a career in acting. In 1995, he had his first major breakthrough with a role in the NBC soap opera "Another World." However, the show underwent a change in leadership shortly after his casting, and the new producers had different plans for his character. Chambers then had a string of episodic appearances in daytime projects such as "New York Undercover" on Fox and "Swift Justice" on UPN. He also appeared in a Hallmark production called "Harvest of Shame" alongside Lolita Davidovich, as well as in the project "Rose Hill" with Jennifer Garner.

Breakthrough and Success

Chambers' next opportunity came in 1998 when he landed a role in the series "Four Corners" alongside Ann-Margret and Sonia Braga. Unfortunately, the show was canceled after only two episodes, and Chambers' portrayal of a troubled son of a prominent local figure went largely unnoticed. He then appeared in the soap opera "Seasons of Love" with Hugh Cronin, Rip Torn, and Nick Stahl. Chambers made his big-screen debut in the 1999 film "Liberty Heights," where he played an average American who befriends a Jewish man. The autobiographical film, directed by Barry Levinson, depicted his own life and upbringing in Baltimore. He also had a small role as a stoner friend of Cameron Diaz in the movie "The Invisible Circus."

In 2001, Chambers had another major opportunity when he played an Italian immigrant who marries Jennifer Lopez's character in "The Wedding Planner." The film was a commercial success, and Chambers showcased his comedic skills and ability to perform in romantic scenes. His charming competition for the lead role, Matthew McConaughey, also played a significant role in the film's success.

Continued Success on Television

Chambers continued to rise to success with the film "The Musketeer," where he portrayed d'Artagnan in another adaptation of Dumas' classic work. Although the film received mixed reviews, Chambers balanced his acting career with his ongoing modeling campaigns for Calvin Klein. He went on to have more moderately successful roles in film before achieving his most well-known and successful role as Dr. Alex Karev on the television series "Grey's Anatomy," which he began in 2005.
