Early Life and Education

Kairat Abusseitov was born on October 20, 1955, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He graduated from the Faculty of History at the Kazakh State University named after S.M. Kirov.

Academic Career

After university, Abusseitov taught at the Semey Pedagogical Institute. He then pursued postgraduate studies at Lomonosov Moscow State University. From 1985 to 1989, he worked as an assistant, senior lecturer, and deputy dean at Kazakh State University.

Political and Diplomatic Career

From 1989 to 1992, Abusseitov taught at the Department of World Politics and International Relations at the Almaty Higher Party School and the Almaty Institute of Political Science and Management. From 1992 to 1993, he led the Foreign Policy and National Security Program at the Center for Strategic Research of the Kazakh Institute of Management, Economics, and Forecasting.

In 1993-1996, Abusseitov held various diplomatic positions in the Central Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. From 1996 to 1998, he served as Counselor at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the United States.

From 1998 to 1999, he ascended through several positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Deputy Director of the First Department, Director of the First Department, and Director of the Department of Multilateral Cooperation.

From 1999 to 2002, Abusseitov served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. From 2002 to 2004, he was First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassadorship

From 2004 to 2008, Abusseitov was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the Swiss Confederation and Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva.

Since 2008, he has served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. He has also been concurrently accredited as Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Ireland, the Republic of Iceland, and the Kingdom of Sweden.
