Kane Kosugi is an American actor and martial arts expert. He is the son of renowned actor Sho Kosugi and is considered a foreign talent in Japan. Despite his foreign background, Kane has become a highly acclaimed actor in his second home country.
Early Life and Training
Kane Kosugi was born as Kane Takeshi Kosugi and is the son of actor Sho Kosugi. He grew up with a strong desire to follow in his father's footsteps and become a professional actor specializing in martial arts. Kane dedicated himself to extensive training in various martial arts disciplines such as kung fu, ninjutsu, taekwondo, karate, judo, and kendo.
Acting Career
Kane made his acting debut in Japan in 1993, appearing in the television series "Ryūkyū no Kaze" ("Spirit of the Dragon"). He then landed his first major role in the two-part film series "Za Kakuto Oh" ("King of Fighters"), directed by his father. Kane also appeared in the popular television series "Ninja Sentai Kakuranger" as the only American-born member of the cast, which required him to speak primarily in English during the initial episodes.
Throughout his career, Kane has taken on various roles as a stuntman, voice actor in video games, and character actor in both Japanese and English-language films. He has showcased his martial arts skills and acting abilities in numerous projects, including the Hollywood film "War," where he played an unnamed member of the Yakuza.
Other Endeavors
In addition to his acting career, Kane has made appearances in the children's program "Karada de Asobo" and has been involved in television commercials promoting vitamin drinks. He has also participated in the sports show "Kinniku Oukoku" and competed in the popular obstacle course competition show "Sasuke," known as "Ninja Warrior" in the United States. Kane became one of three foreigners, and the only American, to reach the final stages of the competition.
Personal Life
Kane Kosugi was previously in a relationship with golfer Riko Higashio, but they ended their relationship in 2005. In December 2009, he married a woman from Hong Kong. It appears that Kane no longer maintains a relationship with his legendary father, Sho Kosugi, due to a disagreement regarding Kane's decision to pursue a career in Japanese television. However, Sho attended Kane's wedding in 2009, suggesting that they may have reconciled or are close to reconciliation.
