Arshak Karapetyan: A Career in Armenian Football

Arshak Karapetyan is an Armenian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Armenian Premier League club Shirak. He has also represented the Armenia national team.

Early Career and Shirak

From a young age, Karapetyan attended the Shirak Sports School. At the age of 17, he began playing for Shirak's first team. It was in his hometown club that he developed as a player and caught the attention of the national team coaches. He played 137 matches for Shirak and scored 43 goals.

Move to Pyunik and International Debut

In 2004, Karapetyan joined Pyunik, the reigning Armenian champions. With Pyunik, he won the Armenian Premier League and the Armenian Cup. He also earned his first cap for the Armenian national team in 2002.

Overseas Stints and Further Success

Karapetyan went on trial with Swiss club Zurich but was ultimately not signed by the club. He then moved to Moldovan club Zimbru in 2004, where he made only 53 appearances over three seasons. In 2008, he returned to Yerevan and joined Banants. That same year, he was transferred to Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino in Belarus, where he played only sparingly.

Return to Armenia and Club of the Century Milestone

In 2009, Karapetyan returned to Armenia once more, signing for Ulisses. He played in 8 matches for Ulisses and won the Armenian Premier League bronze medal. In 2010, he extended his contract with the club. In the 2010 season, he played his 300th official career match and became the 41st member of the "Club of 300."

Return to Shirak

After his contract with Ulisses expired, Karapetyan signed a two-year deal with Shirak in December 2010, marking his return to his boyhood club after 7 years.

International Career

Karapetyan played for the Armenia national team intermittently from 2002 to 2008. He made 24 appearances for his country.
