Karen Bradley: Early Life and Education
Karen Bradley was born in the United Kingdom. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Imperial College London, laying the foundation for her future career.
Corporate Career
Bradley worked as a Tax Manager at Deloitte in 1991, rising to the position of Senior Tax Manager at KPMG within seven years. In 2004, she transitioned to self-employment as a Fiscal and Economic Consultant before returning to KPMG in 2007.
Political Ambitions
Bradley's first attempt at entering the political arena came in 2005 when she ran unsuccessfully for Parliament in the Manchester Withington constituency. However, she achieved electoral success in the 2010 General Election, becoming the Member of Parliament for Staffordshire Moorlands.
Ascent in Government
Bradley's political career steadily progressed. In 2012, she was appointed Assistant Government Whip and promoted to Government Whip (Lord Commissioner of the Treasury) in 2013. A year later, she became Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Modern Slavery and Organized Crime at the Home Office.
Ministerial Positions
On July 14, 2016, Bradley was appointed Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport in the cabinet of then-Home Secretary Teresa May. Following a government reshuffle on January 8, 2018, she was moved to the position of Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
Re-election and Personal Life
Bradley was re-elected to Parliament in the 2019 General Election. She is married to Neil Bradley and they have two sons, Matthew and Thomas.
