Biography of Karen Djanguard
Karen Djanguard is a Russian poet known for his expertise in the field of vers libre. He graduated from the Economics Faculty of Moscow State University and pursued his postgraduate studies there as well. Since 1978, Djanguard has been actively involved in the development and systematization of Russian vers libre.
Throughout his career, Djanguard's poetry has been published in various central periodicals and anthologies of Russian poetry. His verses have also been translated into foreign languages, further expanding his reach and influence as a poet. He has authored 17 published books of vers libre, showcasing his mastery of the form.
In addition to his individual works, Djanguard has also made significant contributions as a compiler and author of several anthologies of Russian vers libre. One notable accomplishment includes being the compiler and author of the first group collection of vers libre in the Soviet Union, titled "White Square" (1988). This anthology played a crucial role in establishing the position of vers libre in contemporary Russian poetry.
In recognition of his contributions to the field, Djanguard was elected as the President of the "Association of Russian Vers Libre" in 1991. However, the association dissolved in 1995.
Since 1991, Djanguard has been living in exile, residing in various countries including Poland, Norway, Belgium, and Austria. It was in 1995 that he settled in Canada, where he continues to reside and create his poetic works.
