Karol Linetty: A Polish Midfielder on the Rise
Early CareerBorn in Poznań, Poland, Karol Linetty developed his skills as a youth player for his hometown club Lech Poznań. On November 2, 2012, he made his debut in the Polish Ekstraklasa against Wisła Kraków.
Breakthrough with Lech Poznań
Linetty became a regular starter for Lech Poznań in 2014, scoring his first goal for the club in a match against Piast Gliwice. He played a crucial role in helping Poznań win the Ekstraklasa title and Super Cup in 2015.
Move to Sampdoria
In the summer of 2016, Linetty transferred to the Italian Serie A club Sampdoria for a fee of €3 million. He made his debut for Sampdoria on August 21 against Empoli and scored his first goal for the club against Lazio on May 7.
International Career
Youth SuccessLinetty represented Poland at the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Slovenia. He featured in matches against Belgium, Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Germany, helping Poland finish third.
Senior Debut
Linetty made his senior debut for Poland in a friendly match against Norway on January 18, 2014, and scored his first international goal in the same match.
Euro 2016 and U21 European Championship
In 2016, Linetty was included in Poland's squad for the UEFA European Championship in France. Although he was a backup player, he did not make any appearances. He also represented Poland at the 2017 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, playing in matches against Slovakia, Sweden, and England.
