Education and Early CareerBorn in Heidelberg, Katina Schubert attended schools in Mannheim and Bonn. From 1981 to 1989, she studied political science, sociology, and economics, primarily in Bonn. After graduating, she completed internships and worked as a journalist from 1990 to 1993.

Positions in the Bundestag
Schubert joined the staff of the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) parliamentary group in the Bundestag in 1996. She held various roles, including working as an advisor to the group's vice president, Petra Bläß. In 2002, she became an expert in the scientific service of the Bundestag.
Government Service
From 2004 to 2006, Schubert served as an advisor to the Minister of Economics, Labor, and Women's Affairs for the state of Berlin. In 2006, she became an advisor to the Minister of Integration, Labor, and Social Affairs.
Controversy over Wikipedia
In 2007, Schubert filed a police complaint against the German Wikipedia, accusing it of excessive use of Nazi symbols. She argued that the symbols were more numerous than necessary for educational purposes. The subsequent debate led to the article on the Hitler Youth being significantly shortened and blocked for a week. Facing criticism, Schubert withdrew her complaint.
