Background and Early Life

Anne Beathe Tvinnereim was born on October 20, 1967, in Bergen, Norway. Her parents were Erik Toppe, a gardener and farmer, and Svanhild Nese, a teacher. She graduated from high school in Bergen in 1986.

Medical Career

In 1992, Tvinnereim earned her medical degree (cand.med.) from the University of Bergen. She worked as a doctor in the Balestrand and Bremanger municipalities from 1996 to 1997 and in Bergen from 1999 to 2002.

Political Career

Tvinnereim's political journey began in 2003, when she was elected to the Bergen City Council. She also served on the Hordaland County Council from 2007 to 2009. During this time, she held leadership roles in the Bergen Interkommunale Renholdsverk (BIR) cleaning company.

Member of Parliament

In 2009, Tvinnereim was elected to the Norwegian Parliament (Storting) for the Hordaland constituency. She was re-elected in 2013, 2017, and 2021. She has served as Deputy Leader of the Storting group of the Centre Party since 2017.

Minister of Children and Families

On October 14, 2021, Tvinnereim was appointed Minister of Children and Families in Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre's government. She is a member of the Centre Party.
