Biography of Kochkar Durdiev
Kochkar Akhmedovich Durdiev was born on September 1, 1917, in the village of Dardak, now located in the Kurgantepinsky District of Andijan Region, Uzbekistan. He belonged to the Uzbek ethnicity and completed his primary education before working in a collective farm.
Soviet Army Service
Durdiev joined the Soviet Army in 1940 and actively participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War from September 1941. On October 15, 1941, while serving as a private, he was part of a rifle company that was advancing in the Trudolyubovka area.
During the offensive, their company encountered an enemy machine gun nest that halted their progress. The unit received orders to destroy the enemy position, but the commander and five soldiers were wounded in the process. Despite the casualties, Durdiev continued to crawl towards the machine gun nest.
He managed to approach the nest from behind and stunned the German officer operating the machine gun with the butt of his rifle. However, two more German soldiers appeared, and Durdiev engaged them in close combat. He eliminated both enemies with rifle shots.
Upon hearing the gunfire, more German soldiers arrived at the machine gun nest and attempted to capture Durdiev. Armed with a German rifle he found nearby (as his own rifle was damaged), the brave soldier shot and killed four more Germans while throwing grenades at the nest.
After capturing two prisoners, Durdiev rejoined his company, which resumed the offensive and successfully completed their mission.
Heroic Recognition and Post-War Life
On March 27, 1942, Kochkar Akhmedovich Durdiev was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, accompanied by the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal, for his courageous actions. In 1942, he completed the junior lieutenant courses and later attended an accelerated course at the Gomel Military Infantry School in 1943.
After the war, Durdiev retired as a senior lieutenant and settled in the village of Aim-Dzhalalku in the Andijan Region of Uzbekistan. He worked in a state farm and received several awards, including the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner, and the Medals for the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degrees.
