Early Life and Education

Kofi Annan was born in Kumasi, Ghana, on April 8, 1938. He earned a degree in economics from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota, in 1961. Subsequently, he studied economics at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva and earned a master's degree in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
